I am very proud of this dramatic, black and white studio maternity portrait of an expectant mother. This indoor studio portrait is shot against a dark backdrop in my studio in Mt Lebanon.
This mother-to-be wears a simple but dramatic floor-length black dress. She has no shoes on. Her gaze is to the side and the viewer is able to see her beautiful pregnant profile as she supports her child with her arms. She is not smiling, but she looks very serene, as if she is thinking about her future with her child.
The formal and the informal come together in this portrait. The tone is dramatic and serious, but not morose. The lighting for this shot was carefully chosen to emphasize the lovely curves of this pregnant Mom, and provide a wonderful backdrop against her black dress.
You can readily see this portrait on the wall. It has a formal quality, but the bare feet remind you that this is a casual setting. It grabs your attention for sure.
