Newborn Mack Morris | Pittsburgh Mt. Lebanon Newborn Photographer

Is that the coolest baby name or what? This is a newborn little boy from last spring that I never got around to blogging before we moved.  On a side note, can you believe I moved from Portland to Pittsburgh 6 months pregnant with an 18 month old??  We survived and are SO happy we took the leap! Anyway, usually newborn sessions take a couple hours because we need that time to get baby really warm, happy, and relaxed. This little guy came in that way and was ready for his close-up pretty much 5 minutes after walking in!

I also did a maternity session with Mack’s beautiful mama and big sister a few weeks before he was born.

I have been getting a lot of calls from wonderful mamas inquiring about newborn sessions lately!  It seems it is more of a “new” thing in the Pittsburgh area that is starting to catch on.  I have some wonderful people on my schedule and am so excited to meet their new little ones this summer.

Newborn Baby Brooklyn | Pittsburgh Newborn Photographer

This little sweetie came to me at 4 weeks of age, a little older than most newborns that I see but just as beautiful and sweet as can be!  We got some lovely shots of her gorgeous little face, and she even let us adorn her with a few cutesy girly things.  I really enjoyed meeting Brooklyn’s mom and relating about the extreme challenges and extreme joys of having a new baby and remembering when Jonah was 4 weeks old.  What a crazy time that was… I had no idea what I was doing!

For this in-studio shoot, I was able to use my new Canon L series 100 mm macro lens to get some close-ups of her face and feet, and that thing is amaaaaazing.  So perfect for getting dreamy captures of a perfect newborn face!  I was on the fence between that and an 85 mm portrait lens, and I think I made the right choice.  Next lens on the wish list is a wider angle (35 mm 1.4?) for creative outdoor family portraits.

Newborn Baby S | Shadyside Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

This little sweetie was born in October to join her big sister A, who I photographed as a newborn two years ago! We shot the baby’s lifestyle newborn portrait at her family’s gorgeous Shadyside home, which is a delightful modern and open style and is a “green home,” which I think is unique & interesting and reminds me of the six years I spent in Portland, OR.

This sweet toddler is bilingual (English/German), but her laughs and smiles send a universal message of glee! What a fun and happy little girl.  We spent the first few minutes playing outside because it was a beautiful day and baby needed a little extra time to get ready.

Again A’s beautiful smile steals the show–she is such a lovely and bright little girl and so sweet to her new baby sister.  I like the family portraits on the bed, this is a great way to easily incorporate a toddler and a newborn in a family photograph.

The blue outfit was dad’s pick and was her outfit for coming home from the hospital after she was born.  The white booties are another homemade family item.  In the background of some of these photos you can se big sister A hiding behind the curtain! One of my favorite parts of a lifestyle newborn session is capturing these unstaged moments!
