I shot this session last month when it was a nice warm day but the leaves hadn’t quite appeared on the trees yet.  This made it feel extra important to me to shoot this session when the lighting would be soft and lovely, which of course means golden hour!

Hard to believe but this mama was about 38 weeks pregnant in these photos and had her baby about a week later!

These two both moved to Pittsburgh from Europe a few months ago and will be raising their baby in our fine city of Pittsburgh, lucky little guy! 🙂

I already got to meet the handsome little one and will be shooting his newborn portraits next week.  Now that we have lush leaves on all the trees and warm temps we will get some portraits of him outside.

I was happy to be shooting many lifestyle family portrait sessions this winter!  This is such a sweet and different type of portrait session than the outdoor fall family sessions that are so very popular with my clients.

mother and child snugglingWe shot this session on a gorgeous snowy day so the light was bouncing all around the room and I used only window light for this session.  I almost always use some sort of supplemental fill lighting buchild jumping on a bed

This mom has done several sessions with me in the past and is a pro at styling, she had a simple, neutral, fresh backdrop ready for me in one of the bedrooms, perfect for  a little jumping on the bed action!

Even though it was the middle of the day, the sun was low enough and the snow reflective enough that I got a couple of cute shots of these two outside, love it.

Studio portraits always usually look nice in black & white because of the higher contrast & directional lighting.
