Mt. Lebanon Family Photographer | Graybill Family

It’s spring!  (Right???)  This is my first spring in Pittsburgh and I am surprised at how the weather changes from one day to the next.  We have had freezing temps, snow, thunderstorms, and sunny/70’s in the last few weeks.  I have clothing for all seasons in my drawers and closets, and I’m running out of room! Is this typical for Pittsburgh springtime?

My goal for the Graybill portrait was a shiny happy springtime portrait, but although we got a lovely sunny day, it was COLD!  These guys are troopers and let me put baby Delaney in a pretty spring dress without a sweater for a nanosecond to capture a cute shot of her. My favorite portraits of this day involved a piano and chickens!

Love these pics, thanks Katie 🙂

Pittsburgh South Hills Maternity Newborn Photographer | Pregnancy Composite Portrait

Last spring I did a very special project featuring beautiful mama and dancer, Laura M.  She and I met in the studio several times throughout her pregnancy to document the changes in her belly.  We got to try a lot of different things, including something I am very proud of, a composite image of months 5, 6, 7, and 8 of her pregnancy:

This was my greatest challenge to date because it was very important that I shoot each image to the exact specs of the previous images to create a sense of consistency in the final image. I had to make it look like they were all shot on the same day even though they were each a month apart.  I took a lot of notes on my camera & light settings and the locations of my lights.  It was also tricky in editing… those of you who have extracted an image in Photoshop know what I’m talking about!  By the time we were on months 7 and 8 I had it down though.  I thought it turned out extraordinarily well and am so proud of it and thankful that Laura is so patient and talented!

Here are some other images from her maternity sessions:

She also had the cutest, chunkiest little sweet baby, Hank:

First Outdoor Shoot of 2012 | Portland Family Photographer

We picked a lovely day for an outdoor shoot at Laurelhurst Park! It was a little chilly, but family portraits done outdoors are always more fun and colorful if the weather allows for it.  3-year-old Orla and baby cutie pie Kieran were great through the whole shoot, and I think Orla is my new best friend, tons of fun.  Here are a few of my favorites from this photo session:

If I could have a photo of my own family just like that bottom-left one I could die happy.  Such a cute family!
