Pittsburgh Maternity Photographer | Pregnancy Perfection | Studio Maternity Portrait

A third trimester mother/daughter studio portrait…. the sweetest!

This first one went in an album spread and I loved how it looked so much in the album that I made this composite just for my blog.  I am thinking also that I will make a 20×30″ canvas for my studio, yes! This is actually a fairly simple portrait to do (lighting-wise) that I do with all of my maternity studio clients–I just haven’t assembled it as a composite before but I LOVE it.

The little guy in these belly pics made his entrance just a couple weeks ago and is the cutest thing.  I have his newborn photos to share later this week, including some sweet sibling portraits.

How perfect to have mother/daughter portraits just before little brother comes!

Last spring I did a very special project featuring beautiful mama and dancer, Laura M.  She and I met in the studio several times throughout her pregnancy to document the changes in her belly.  We got to try a lot of different things, including something I am very proud of, a composite image of months 5, 6, 7, and 8 of her pregnancy:

This was my greatest challenge to date because it was very important that I shoot each image to the exact specs of the previous images to create a sense of consistency in the final image. I had to make it look like they were all shot on the same day even though they were each a month apart.  I took a lot of notes on my camera & light settings and the locations of my lights.  It was also tricky in editing… those of you who have extracted an image in Photoshop know what I’m talking about!  By the time we were on months 7 and 8 I had it down though.  I thought it turned out extraordinarily well and am so proud of it and thankful that Laura is so patient and talented!

She also had the cutest, chunkiest little sweet baby, Hank:

Laura came in for her 6 month update–we are doing a series of maternity portraits, with two more scheduled at 7 and 8 months.  Look here for the photos from her 5 month session.  I am working on a composite series, which I will be offering to all my clients starting this summer!  While she was in getting the 6-month pic for the composite, we took some more photos of her dancing, and I thought these two were strikingly similar… with one growing exception of course!

Baby Hank is due in a few short months, can’t wait for the next round of maternity pics… and of course his newborn photos in June!
